September 29

Dear Family,

Sometimes I get so excited about lds.org and mormon.org that I leave myself no to email you.........this is one of those weeks. :)

But we have seen miracles!

On the way back from Kelowna (Sister Brook and I had been on an exchange) we stopped to get some dinner at a grocery store. I wanted to pray for a missionary oppurtunity and literally three seconds later we found one! A really chatty old guy was talking to an 18 year old named Jaeden. We started talking to them, mostly the old guy, and Jaeden started asking all of these questions so Sister Brook went over to him while I talked to the older guy. When I walked up, Sister Brook had explained a lot of things, why bad things happen to good people, if God is there and how he can know, and when I came up he was asking how he can know when he gets an answer to his prayers. It was so cool to have such an immediate answer to our prayers to share the gospel. So we invited him to pray, got his number and he was totally open to meeting with the YSA missionaries.

Next parking lot miracle was Linda! She was the reason we got to see the Women's Broadcast on Saturday. She was standing outside of a Safeway so we said hi and started talking to her. She told us about how she had just come back from her aunt's funeral and life has been really stressful because she just moved, etc. So we eventually said a prayer with her and told her that we would love to serve her. We gave her our number and told her to call us. (She also had a letter in her hand with her address on it.... and I just happen to be good at memorizing numbers, so I figured we'd "accidentally" knock on her door sometime... I can't believe how unbelievably creepy I can be. Hah. Anyways.) But she called! So we went and helped her set up a patio set and then we had lunch with her. And she wanted to come to the Women's Broadcast, so she did!

So that's all. Our recent converts all seem to be going to the hospital this week....

I loved what Sister Merritt said about memorizing the Living Christ. I was going to have it memorized by my birthday...which did not happen, but I love the idea of having it memorized by Christmas!

I really love being a missionary. I love you all and pray for your success! Have the best week yet.

Sister Thomson

PS. CONFRENCE THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!! I've been looking forward to this for three months. :)
PPS. My camera is finally  working so here is Sister Brook. This was the least awkward picture we could manage haha.
PPPS. I went to a campus this week on an exchange and it was so much fun! I thought serving in a YSA ward would be weird but I actually really liked it!
